About Us

Celebrating 40 years of quality customer service in 2011, Webster Marine was established by Terry Webster in 1971 on the waterfront at Paynesville on the magnificent Gippsland Lakes, Victoria’s boating haven. Over the years, with other family members involved, Webster Marine ran a large charter fleet in conjunction with a chandlery, service division and the brokerage which is now the core business.

In 1986 Terry’s son Tony joined the business and he now operates the Paynesville division of the Webster Marine brokerage network with Jim Sismanes operating the Brighton office and the Melbourne division.

Tony Webster

Tony is now in his 25th year in the industry, having managed the charter fleet then the service division and since 1993 assisting Terry in brokerage until his retirement in 2004. In 2001, in partnership with Jim Sismanes, Tony established a brokerage office in Port Melbourne, later becoming the exclusive brokers at Royal Brighton Yacht Club.

In recent times Jim has taken on full ownership of Webster Marine Melbourne and the two businesses continue to work together as a network. Tony is married to Deborah and has 2 young children. He has a Master 5 skippers ticket and is a keen sailor having done many offshore deliveries and racing catamarans until kids came along.

Jim Sismanes

Jim is now in his 12th year in the marine industry. After his previous 20 years in education, a growing passion and interest in sailing and boating turned into a career when Tony Webster and he decided to operate a Melbourne arm of the Webster Marine business more than a decade ago.

In the last 8 years he has also managed the marina at Royal Brighton Yacht club which has 235 vessels in a modern floating marina.

Jim and Tony are both highly respected and experienced brokers of yachts and power boats and have represented some of the major imported yacht and boat brands in Australia. Webster Marine currently represents both Catalina and Elan yachts as well as Cobalt Boats.
